Simon Ushakov created a new direction in iconography, which has become a transitional stage to secular painting, which can be traced in the icon "Praise to Vladimir's icon. The Tree of the Russian State ”(1668).
Bible themes inspired artists throughout the history of russian art. The work of A.A. Ivanov "The Appearance of Christ to the People" (1837-1857) became the whole era, characterized by depth thoughts and a variety of artistic achievements. I.N. Kramskoy, one from the organizers of the “Partnership of Traveling Art Exhibitions”, continued the search for truth, embodying them in the painting “Christ in the wilderness ”(1872).
